Fat Prophets was established in 2000 by Founder & CEO Angus Geddes. Since then, we have been undertaking market research and manging wealth for thousands of clients. The success of our business is attributed to our Senior Management and our Teams, including Research, Wealth Management, Client Services and Operations.

The Fat Prophets team all share the mission of making your investments as FAT as possible. Our Mantra is professionalism and transparency, leading to quality and efficient investment decisions, which in turn benefits our Members in every kind of market. 

Senior Management

Angus Geddes

CEO and Founder

He has a wealth of experience acquired over more than two decades in both domestic and international financial markets. Aside from running the Fat Prophets group. Angus has broad investment responsibilities within the Funds Management division, which manages close to $100 million.

Angus's investment track record began in 1982 at the young age of 13. In 1986 he received a ``highly commended`` award from the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce for increasing an initial investment of $200 to $35,000 on the world stock markets.

During his career, Angus has worked as a money market dealer in New Zealand, a financial consultant in the United Kingdom and the United States. Moving to Australia in 1996, Angus worked for five years as a stockbroker at Bankers Trust and JB Were before co-founding Fat Prophets in June 2000.

Majoring in Economics, Angus completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Otago University, New Zealand in1990. He is also a member of the Securities Institute of Australia having qualified for a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment in 1999.

Angus is also a non executive director of Pie-face Holdings, one of Australia's fastest growing food franchises and Fitch Metals Engineering, a rapidly expanding industrial engineering and manufacturing company. Angus is also a director of the Australasian Investment Review, a fast growing online magazine with more than 35,000 subscribers.

Patrick Ganley

Chief Operating Officer

Patrick has over 20 years’ experience in the Financial Services Sector. He's responsible for the company’ sales, marketing, advertising, human resources, IT, compliance, and members services.

He also plays a senior role within the Wealth Management Division of the company, focusing on client acquisition and retention, as well as helping with the set-up and support to the companies listed funds.

He holds a degree in Finance and Marketing, and Kaplan RG 146 accreditations in General, Securities, Managed Investments, and Superannuation General Advice.

Research Team

David Lennox

Resources Analyst

David Lennox has been covering the Australian equity market as an Analyst for over 30 years. His experience includes coverage of both Australian resource and industrial companies across the market capitalisation spectrum.
David’s was most recently with CENTRIC Wealth a financial planning group, where he focussed on coverage of the Australian resource sector.
David’s broader experience includes time with organisations including Colonial Mutual Life, Norwich Union Life, Australian Casualty & life and the Suncorp Group, where he held positions as an Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Fund Manager.

Andrew Blackmore

Equity Analyst

Andrew joined Fat Prophets at the beginning of 2011 to support the research team analyzing a range of international equities. Andrew began his career in the finance industry in 2000 after having previously worked in the IT industry at IBM Global Services. Having previously been a personal investor in the stock market for several years he moved into an analyst role for an Australian Equities fund at a top 100 ASX listed financial services company. Initially his focus was on the TMT and Healthcare industries, but this soon broadened to a wider range of industries.

In the interim period Andrew was part of investment teams that invested in a range of unlisted and listed investment opportunities. These included private equity deals that had international co-investors from the US, Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Fat Prophets his most recent role was at an absolute return fund with a focus on international listed equities.

Andrew has completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Otago, New Zealand and a Master of Commerce from the University of Sydney, Australia.

Andre Mikhail Obierez

Equity Analyst

André joined Fat Prophets in February 2015, and is an analyst in the Asian Equities research team. He works out of our office in the Philippines, with his research coverage focussed on investment opportunities within the Asian region. After earning his undergraduate degree in 2012, André started his career in Finance as a stockbroker with Regina Capital before moving on to a research role at Meridian Securities where his focus was primarily in Banking, Consumer, and Utilities sectors. He also taught Finance classes at the University of San Jose-Recoletos before joining Fat Prophets.

André holds a degree in Entrepreneurship with a Minor in Economics. He is also currently working on his Masters degree.

Ridhi Parekh

Equity Analyst

Riddhi Parekh has 10 years of experience in the banking and financial services domain. Working with leading multinational investment banks and asset management companies, she has been covering the international equity market, performing equity research, financial modeling, valuation, stock recommendations, and writing research reports across sectors. She holds a master’s degree in finance and leverages her knowledge in identifying the best investment opportunities based on stock valuation and risk assessment, with high returns and a low-risk profile. She works as an equity research analyst at Fat Prophets, focusing on Australasian equities.

Simon Wheatley

Simon Wheatley

Property & REITS Manager

Simon has over 20 years of listed markets experience, having started out in real estate equity research in 1996, before heading real estate equity research teams for JB Were and Goldman Sachs from 1999. Simon was head of international equity research for Goldman Sachs JBWere (GSJBW) based in New York from 2005 where he was also broker dealer licencee of the US business, was a member of the Australian Investment Review Committee for Goldman Sachs Equity Research, and was a long term partner at GSJBW. Additionally he has had successful private business ventures, and most recently headed Real Estate Corporate Advisory for Australia and New Zealand for Goldman Sachs.

Richard Burke

Wealth Management

Richard has extensive markets experience, operating on both trading floors of the Sydney Futures Exchange and Australian Stock Exchange with Dalgety Futures and Rivkin James Capel, respectively. Heading up Sales at HSBC's Margin Lending for over 7 years and a Sales Manager at E.L. & C Baillieu Stockbroking Sydney office for over 5 years, Richard has been serving retail & institutional investors as well as Family offices for over 30years. He is an integral member of Fat Prophets Wealth Management Department.

Roger Malik

Head of Client Services

Roger has degrees in Law & Business Administration and has 18 years of experience in managing multiple operations in Australia, NZ, Asia and Middle East.

As our Head of Client Services, Roger and his team are responsible for Member experience, retention and business development.

He is RG146 securities qualified and he helps many self-funded and professional investors in the Financial Markets and also hosts our Member Webinars with our Research Team.

Edward Alam

Senior Account Manager

Since 2011, Edward has been a senior member of the Fat Prophets team. Over 20 years of financial markets experience working with self-guided and professional investors. RG146 Securities qualified along with over 30 years of business acumen managing multiple businesses prior to working with Fat Prophets.

Shayan Chand

Senior Account Manager

Shayan Joined Fatprophets in 2009 and has built excellent relationships with our long-term clients over these years.

She holds all relevant qualifications to give General Advice regarding our stock recommendations and help clients where needed. With over 12 years of experience here at Fatprophets, she is one of our highly experienced senior account managers and her service is appreciated by our long-term members.

Christopher Balafas

Senior Account Manager

Chris has been with Fat Prophets for 11 years now including 5 years in the London office and is part of our Senior team.

He is very enthusiastic about the stock markets and working with members on the FTSE and the European markets.

Chris has a keen interest in helping members with their queries and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to different Global Indices

He is an avid sports enthusiast, representing Sydney Swans as a junior and the Parramatta Eels.

Manoj Rai

Senior Account Manager

Manoj has been with Fat Prophets for more than 6 years. Nothing gives him more joy than helping his clients gain a good understanding of the stock markets and helping them make money in the process.

In Australia, he has 22 years of work experience in the banking & finance industry, his first job being with Commonwealth Bank many years ago.

He is professionally qualified, well-educated and holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Economics degree in addition to the various accreditations related to his various roles over the years.

Aashna Ahuja

Account Manager

Aashna has been an Account Manager at Fat Prophets for over 2 years. She has an educational background in Business and Mathematics and has worked in this industry for over 5 years gaining experience in Account Management, Client Relationship Management, Sales and Customer Service.

With great market knowledge and her focus on customer satisfaction, she’s been an integral part of our team and helps our clients navigate the market with confidence.

Kimon Kallinikos

Account Manager

Kimon holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Wollongong with majors in Marketing and Management. He has spent the last 4 years operating in financial services with experience in financial advice delivery, superannuation and investment & market research. Business development and account management have been the core of Kimon’s responsibilities with a focus on establishing and enhancing client relationships, growing key business accounts and executing strategies for organisational growth to assert market position.

As one of the account managers in the Fat Prophets Research Department, his market and product knowledge paired with the provision of general advice and guidance make Kimon a valued member of the company and well regarded by many of our existing clients.

Accounting and Marketing

Megan Le

Accountant

Megan has been with Fat Prophets for over 2 years. She has an educational background in Fund Accounting and over six years as Accountant across various sectors.

With experiences in financial analysis and fund accounting management, coupled with commitment to achieving accurate and timely results, she works well as a part of the financial team as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Claude Zhang

Accountant

Claude has educational background in accounting and finance and over 4 years of experience as accountant. He is currently working towards to become a CPA.

With experiences in financial analysis and strong team spirit, Claude works well as not only a part of the accounting team but also an important member of Fat Prophets.

Anna Nguyen

Marketing Executive

Anna is currently working in marketing team of Fat Prophets with the focus on coordinating marketing activities and increase brand awareness. She also works closely with Client Services team to build and develop client relationship and experience.

Sarina Aguinaldo

Marketing Executive

Working under the Marketing and Admin team at Fat Prophets, Sarina has over 5 years’ experience in Marketing and Management across different industries and is currently undertaking her MBA degree specialising in digital management.
